Back in January at the Winter Namm show, amidst the excitement of the Omnisphere 1.5 update announcement and the incredibly impressive Omni TR iPad app, one other very extraordinary and unique instrument was causing a stir on the Spectrasonics booth... the OMG-1.
Spectrasonics simply would not exist without Bob Moog and, as a way of saying thanks for the inspiration that Bob Moog´s life and work as an American inventor has meant to his company, Eric Persing designed the OMG-1.
Combining a Moog Little Phatty, Omnisphere, Mac Mini, dual iPads, dual iPods and Omni TR, the OMG-1 is built within a beautiful, hand-crafted curly maple cabinet – and you could win it!
How do I win this one-of-a-kind instrument?
Spectrasonics has produced a new Bob Moog Tribute Library containing over 700 sounds for Omnisphere. Created by forty of the world´s top artists and sound designers such as Hans Zimmer, Jordan Rudess, Danny Elfman, Richard Devine and Vince Clark (to name a few) using highly creative processing techniques and gear (including the OMG-1!), the library is filled with inspiring, cutting edge sounds.
Entrants simply need to purchase and download the pack for $100, create some great music utilising the sounds and upload their submission/s. The pack can be downloaded from the Spectrasonics website Audio demos from the pack will be available from 28th March but Daniel James who created some of the sounds for the library and has downloaded the pack has already created a video exploring some of the sounds. See video at the foot of this page!
The very lucky winner will be announced on September 15th and will be presented with the OMG-1 at the 2011 Moogfest in October. The Moogfest is held at Asheville, North Carolina and Spectrasonics will fly the winner to the event!
How does the contest benefit the Moog Foundation?
All proceeds from the library sales will go to the Bob Moog Foundation whose projects include their MoogLab student outreach program, the creation of the future ´Moogseum´, and their efforts to preserve and share Dr. Moog´s extensive and historic archives.
"I´ll never forget the first time I played a Minimoog when I was a little kid…it truly changed my life!" says Eric Persing, Founder and Creative Director of Spectrasonics, "So it´s a privilege after all these years to give back to the foundation honoring my hero Bob Moog and keeping the spirit and history of his inventions alive for the next generation. I had a blast designing the OMG-1 with Dan and I can´t wait to see who wins it!"
With the major and award winning 1.5 update released last month, it was clear more than ever before that Omnisphere was a must-have instrument, and now, it could also be your key to winning this incredible one-of-a-kind prize.
