Sontronics give a sneak peak of 3 new mics at Namm 2011
Friday, January 14, 2011
Six years after Sontronics made its debut at the Winter NAMM Show, the British mic brand has unveiled three more microphones designed specifically for drums at the 2011 Namm Show.
Managing Director Trevor Coley spent 18 months researching the specific characteristics of the various components of a drumkit, and designed these three condenser mics to perfectly capture these sounds.
Full details and pictures have yet to be released but here´s a brief summary of each:
SONTRONICS DM-1B – a large-diaphragm, end-fire condenser mic for use with kick drum, but also perfect for other bass instruments as it can cope with up to 148dB SPL. This will be supplied with its yoke mount in an aluminium flightcase for £299 (RRP inc. VAT)
SONTRONICS DM-1T and DM-1S – two small-diaphragm, mini pencil condensers which have slightly different characteristics, designed for use with tom (1T) and snare (1S). These are expected to retail for around the £119, and will ship with clip-on mounts in a simple cardboard box.
Stay tuned for more details and images!
