Spectrasonics announce OMG-1 contest winner
Friday, September 16, 2011
Back in January at the Winter NAMM show, Spectrasonics founder Eric Persing showed off the OMG-1 – a custom built instrument combining a Moog Little Phatty, Omnisphere, Mac Mini, dual iPads, dual iPods and Omni TR all assembled within a beautiful, hand-crafted curly maple cabinet.
A few months later, the innovative virtual instrument company announced the Moog Foundation contest which invited Omnisphere users to purchase a special Bob Moog Tribute Library containing over 700 sounds created by well known composers and sound designers. Entrants had to submit a track created using the sounds in a bid to win the OMG-1.
Yesterday, Spectrasonics announced the grand prize winner as Torley Wong from Washington who submitted a 15-track album composed entirely with the Tribute library, his wife´s vocals and his own drum samples.
Spectrasonics were so impressed with the level of entries (over 400 in fact from 68 countries!) that they announced three other major winners plus fifteen additional contestants were recognized with "Creative Excellence Awards".
