Soundscan Version 2 introduces programs in a lot of new sampler formats. The audio files are much improved: all files are compatible with the ACID-Enhanced .wav format, and all CDs featuring loops are supplied with .rx2 format (for Recycle 1 and 2 compatibility) in addition to .wav and AIFF files. Each product also now includes a great variety of programs mapping the samples for the major samplers: Akai programs (compatible with S5000, S6000, Z4, Z8 and MPC4000) plus software samplers: Emagic EXS24, Steinberg Halion, PropellerHeads Reason 2.0, and Mach 5.

It starts with impats (on various materials like metal, glass, wood), cars (inside and outside), guns (single and multiple shots), gun handling and shell falling on the ground. The CD also includes ambient sounds like water, doors, electrical and mechanical appliances, computing and office sound effects. This collection then moves to a large selection of switches and buttons, plates, dishes and other kitchen related sounds. It concludes with boxes, bottles, money, lighter and matches and many other specific noises.
