Spectrasonics Keyscape (Boxed) - Customer Reviews

Astonishing clarity
From the incredible vast selection of very authentic collectors keyboard which I have played over the years to the clarity of which these instruments have been sampled and mastered. Again Spectrasonics have smashed it! Each sound is playable, rich in texture. All the natural mechanical noise you would associate with the various iconic instruments have all been captured. I have done a comparison with many similar sounds in my library and these keyboard sounds stand out sonically by a huge margin. The ease of installation is very typical of Spectrasonics. As a producer and arranger working of very diverse albums around the world (from neo-jazz to classical, these amazing Keyscape sounds will be heard on all my future projects.

Outstanding
Incredible attention to detail has clearly been taken to achieve the depth and realism across the whole range of keyboards in this library. The price is worth it even for the Rhodes emulations alone, which are astoundingly good, but you get so much more. The upright piano is particular standout - the resonances and little creaks and noises that naturally sound when playing a real upright have been modelled near flawlessly; with a good controller in hand, the experience and sound feel pretty close to the real thing, as can be said for more or less every instrument included here. There's something for everyone, with all the core keyboards of music performance & production, to loads of obscure contrivances composer types will love, each with staggering amounts of detail and control. If it was £600 I might give a much more detailed breakdown to help out your buying decision, but at under £300 the price is absolutely bonkers. Get it; you won't regret it.

Mind blowingly good
Spectrasonics are renowned for releasing game-changers, going right back to RMX, evolving their software and level of detail and improving workflow through each consecutive release. Keyscape, the latest addition to the STEAM collective, is simply mind blowing. Firstly, installation via the two USB drives is swift, considering the 80Gb of content. The collection of classic and vintage keyboards and variety of presets is phenomenal and the level of detail, ease of sound manipulation, and overall sound quality and instrument variety is something that can't be covered in a short review. I have already used a couple of the instruments in TV compositions (the honky tonk piano is the best sampled version I've ever heard). I love it when I find myself using a new library/instrument on numerous commercial projects straight out of the box, and I know that Keyscape is going to be my go to tool box for a whole host of classic sounds. And the fact that it opens in Omnisphere creates another wealth of sonic possibilities and layers.

Gorgeous
Gorgeous. Simply Gorgeous. Like a lot of people I was pretty sceptical about this once the details were released, but once installed any doubts simply vanish. The LA C7 Grand is just super playable, and comes in a variety of flavours from natural to more treated cinematic tones. Similarly the Wing Upright goes from Dark Indie through to a wonderfully groovy Honky Tonk. Thereís also a whole range of other more esoteric instruments. As well as some lovely electric pianos, clavs and bell tones. For me though itís the plucked keys that really shine, especially the Dolceola. Bottom line is this : No itís not Omnisphere, but it doesnít try to be. What it does is provide some of the best sounding, most playable keyboards around. Believe me, install and then try it, itís truly a joy to play.

Maybe the perfect keyboard collection is possible...
It's a cliche to say that this set of instruments is unique because of the care and attention to detail in the sound capture. While that is true, what make it doubly unusual is the vision for the product. Producing a soft instrument with a definitive set of classic keyboards for real players would be finitely impossible. The fact that Eric and team have got 90% of the way there is as astonishing as it is wonderful. The custom Rhodes has instantly become my 'home' sound. I am practicing, composing and performing with it

The best keyboard sounds ever.
This is the best yet from Spectrasonics. I've been a user now since the days of Atmosphere and own all there products. The sounds are incredible and original on there own, but where it really comes alive is through Omnisphere blending with other sounds and adding effects. The end results are great and sit perfect in a mix with very little need for EQ or Compression. A real winner in my opinion. Buy it now.
