Sonora Cinematic has announced the imminent release of the first chapter of their Poiesis Solo Strings series – a new cello instrument – Poiesis Cello.
According to Wikipedia Poiesis is 'the activity in which a person brings something into being that did not exist before'... and that's exactly what Sonora Cinematic Poiesis Cello sets out to do...
Developed for Native Instruments' free Kontakt Player, Poiesis Cello will allow you to instantly create beautiful (or beautifully ugly!) soundscapes that will inspire new music the first time you touch the keyboard.
The recorded instrument is a 1995 Moes & Moes cello built for, and owned by, Yo-Yo Ma and played by Alan Black, principal cellist with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.
Poiesis Cello was recorded in a dry studio with three high-end microphones placed relatively close to the instrument, to offer an intimate sound that you can shape as you please.
Poiesis Cello will be available to buy from Time+Space, stay tuned for more details coming very soon! In the meantime, check out the preview trailer below or browse other products from Sonora Cinematic.
