For this exclusive product, the Vienna team went straight to their vast treasure trove of orchestral sounds. The core of Vienna Smart Spheres is entirely organic and acoustic, with all the liveliness and vibrancy that comes from live performance. The breath, bows and body movements of Vienna’s famed musicians shine throughout the range of each patch.
After Vienna’s sound design team experimented with their raw samples, it became clear that an acoustic instrument provides much more depth and interest than any artificially generated sound could produce. Using the possibilities of Vienna’s new Synchron Player with its powerful integrated FX plug-ins and routing options, Vienna Smart Spheres offers a shimmering and impressive collection of sounds that will be useful in any musical environment, from film scores to the more experimental side of electronic music.
The Vienna team’s goal was to design soundscapes from various sources, recorded over the course of many years, with the highest attention to detail. As always, the included presets are a suggestion, a starting point that ideally inspires any musician to explore, modulate and expand sonic boundaries within the traditional symphonic realm.
You may tweak the presets and the FX amount simply by moving pre-configured Continuous Controllers, such as CC1 or CC3. If you want to go further, the flexible and open structure of the Synchron Player’s user interface easily allows for far more detailed editing. Whatever your personal approach will be, Vienna Smart Spheres will guide you through a variety of settings, from fearsome dark drones to heavenly ethereal spheres.
My Download Manager shows a warning when the installation should start!
You are using an old version of the Download Manager. Please download and install the latest Download Manager from the VSL website. When you restart the Download Manager, it will check the integrity of your downloaded files for a few minutes; then you can start the installation process. While you’re at it, please update the eLicenser Control Centre as well.
Where do I find the Synchron Player Software?
Go to VSL's website and log in to your VSL account. Then go to 'MyVSL', and you will be able to see the Synchron Power Software as an available download.
Does the Synchron Player come with a standalone version?
The Synchron Player comes as a plug-in only so that it will work in your DAW right away.
Workaround for a standalone option: Download and install “Vienna Instruments & Vienna Ensemble” and use VSL's host 'Vienna Ensemble' as a standalone host.
I am confused about the installation procedure. Can you give me quick instructions, please?
A) Download and install the latest eLicenser Control Center.
=> Use your Activation Code to download your license onto your eLicenser key.
B) Download and install the latest Synchron Player and the latest Download Manager from MyVSL/Software Installers.
C) Download your Library Download File from MyVSL/Synchron Library Downloads and double-click it. This will start the Download Manager, which will lead you through the installation process.
A detailed description of the process can be found in the Download Manager Manual (with screenshots).
D) After the download has finished, the installation will start => choose a location on an SSD drive for best results.
Done. Any troubles: Contact email@example.com, preferably with a screenshot, and they'll be happy to help!
Is it mandatory to use an SSD? Will my hard disk drive also work?
VSL have added an SSD as a system requirement for using their Synchron Series products because you will run into long loading times and a weak performance when working with the access and streaming times of an HDD. If you want to give it a try, we will not hold you back, but please make sure that you have set the PRELOAD time for your sample content to 16,384 samples (Synchron Player SETTINGS => Engine).
Can I download the sample content anytime later on?
Yes, the download files will stay available for later download.
I can’t see my sample content when I open the Synchron Player!
Please make sure that you have installed your sample content after the download has finished. You should see *.vsynvolume files in your folder. If you have moved your sample content after installation, please assign the new location in your Synchron Player SETTINGS => Database Tab.
Can I load my VI Collections into Synchron Player?
Unfortunately, that's not possible. The Synchron Player works with its own sample compression format and can be used with dedicated products from VSL's Synchron Series exclusively.
