CineSamples Ancient Bones is a collection of a Death Whistle, Trident Shell, and a Femur Trumpet.
Recorded at the MGM Scoring Stage at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, this library contains an underlying representation of these instruments and many interesting affected variations.
Started in 2007 by two entrepreneurial composers, CineSamples has grown to provide creators of media music worldwide with the highest quality and innovative virtual instruments at reasonable prices.
They started out of necessity, by creating new, niche libraries that weren't initially available in the market. Although CineSamples has grown to cover full orchestra releases, they continue to find unique and innovative approaches to sample library development and continue their search for niche sound and Ancient Bones certainly fits into that category.
While recording at the MGM Scoring Stage at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, CineSamples brought in 3 bizarre instruments and recorded them during a dinner break. We thought these are too good not to release. Not just for Halloween, these exciting and terrifying sounds can find their way into a variety of musical and sound design applications. The three main instruments are a Death Whistle, Femur Trumpet, and a Conc Shell.
The Death Whistle
The Death Whistle is a clay resonator that originated in ancient Mexico. When blown, they can produce unique sounds imitating animal calls, the noise of the wind or storms, and horrific screams.
The Trident Shell
The Trident Shell is essentially a conch shell - a wind instrument that is made from a seashell.
The Femur Trumpet
The Femur Trumpet (Kangling, literally meaning leg flute) is a horn made from a hollowed-out human femur.
