Garritan Personal Orchestra democratized the creation of orchestral music by making a comprehensive collection of virtual orchestral instruments both accessible and affordable. GPO 5 continues in this tradition by vastly expanding the number of included instruments and offering new techniques, performance spaces and reverbs, and instrument body resonances. The result empowers you to produce truly inspiring symphonic sounds with a much higher level of realism.

“A press release simply cannot convey the magnitude of GPO 5,” said Gary Garritan, MakeMusic’s director of instrumental sciences. “The original Personal Orchestra revolutionized virtual orchestration and became the industry standard. I’m excited that this new GPO 5 is a huge leap forward and will continue this revolution in a major way.” Read more from Gary Garritan in our interview by clicking the image below.
GPO 5 is the most significant update to Garritan Personal Orchestra since its introduction in 2004. In fact, GPO 5 includes over 70% more patches compared to GPO4. The largest single addition is the Garritan Orchestral Strings, which includes section, small section, and solo patches in a wide variety of bowing techniques and effects, along with new sampled body resonances in many of the solo strings.
GPO 5 also incorporates Sonic Morphing, an innovative technology that produces seamless dynamics ranging from the very quietest pianissimo to the loudest, most audacious forte sounds – with a continuous variety of timbre changes along the way.
POWERED BY THE ARIA ADVANCED INSTRUMENT ENGINE
The Garritan libraries are proudly powered by the ARIA Player. No need to purchase a separate sampler.
- Use as a standalone to record and playback live – turn your computer into a virtual instrument! The standalone ARIA Player allows you to load and playback MIDI files.
- Use as a plug-in (Audio Unit, VST, RTAS) with sequencers or notation programs such as Finale.
- Features Conexant’s Endless Wave technology for hard disc streaming of multiple stops and ranks.

"This is a great orchestral collection for the price."
- AskAudio, read full review
"a compact and budget-friendly orchestral library, but a lot more complete and flexible than many much larger and more expensive libraries. It’s an excellent orchestra for the bedroom producer who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money and disk space on orchestra samples. It’s also perfect for academic use, and a powerful tool for the serious orchestral music producer who already owns multiple virtual orchestras and always wants more."
- Bedroom Producers Blog
"Remains a fine all-round choice and is capable of really expressive and musical results. If you need a complete orchestra collection for your DAW or notation program then GPO5 is a good choice and if you own the earlier version then the upgrade is a complete no-brainer as far as I can see."
- Tony Cliff, T+S blog
"GPO5 is the ultimate orchestral solution for any budding producer or academic on a budget, without compromising on sound quality or flexibility."
